DATA AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: THE NEW HORIZON EUROPE CALLS 

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION MAKES MORE THAN 290 MILLION EUROS AVAILABLE FOR: Research PROJECTS that strengthen Europe's digital and technological competitiveness and contribute to the objectives of the Green Deal

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION HAS OPENED THE NEW HORIZON EUROPE CALLS: Included in the Digital - Industry and Space work programme, for a total budget made available of more than €290,000,000.

THE EUROPEAN UNION WILL INVEST 85 MILLION EUROS TO PROMOTE > RESEARCH IN DATA AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES: catalyzing Innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI). A Topic Funds Innovation in AI-Powered Data Operations. Furthermore, it will invest in large-scale pilot projects that will support industrial platforms based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and next-generation edge computing technologies that can be used in key applications and industries.

ANOTHER 206 MILLION EUROS WILL FINANCE RESEARCH PROJECTS: on technologies that will fuel Europe's digital and technological competitiveness and which will contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal.

OF THESE 60 MILLION EUROS WILL BE INVESTED IN RESEARCH: on AI and data-related solutions to support the objectives of the European Green Deal, for example with research projects using robotic data and AI solutions to optimize energy and resources in production value chains.

ANOTHER 76 MILLION EUROS WILL BE INVESTED IN RESEARCH IN AREAS SUCH AS: AI - DATA AND ROBOTICS: with research projects that will allow robots to carry out non-repetitive tasks in everyday contexts and will see a wider integration of robots in industry and society. Other research projects will use Artificial Intelligence and Data to make software development faster and easier. Funding will also be available for research into projects involving the use of photonic technologies to improve the quality of communications networks, as well as the creation of a "photonic innovation factory" to help accelerate the use of photonic technologies in European industry.

THE REMAINING 70 MILLION EUROS WILL BE INVESTED IN PROJECTS SUCH AS: the development of cloud to edge servers which will help create an open European cloud and edge computing architecture. Another topic addressed is that of the integration of two-dimensional (2D) materials into semiconductor technologies. The funding also includes the creation of annual European awards for those who contribute to open-source software and hardware.

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION HAS LAUNCHED A NEW CALL > FOR PROJECTS RELATING TO INFORMATION AND TRAINING MEASURES FOR: WORKERS' ORGANIZATIONS

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE CALL IS TO STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF WORKERS' ORGANIZATIONS: to face, at EU/transnational level, new challenges related to changes in the world of work and social dialogue.

PROJECTS THAT ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WILL BE PARTICULARLY APPRECIATED

• IMPLEMENTATION AT COMMUNITY OR NATIONAL LEVEL: of autonomous social partner agreements concluded at EU level;

• IMPLEMENTATION OF THE WORK PROGRAMS OF THE EXISTING COMMITTEES: of European Social Dialogue.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES ARE THE FOLLOWING:

MEASURES THAT HELP TO ADDRESS EMPLOYMENT CHALLENGES: social and economic identified in the European Pillar of Social Rights;

MODERNIZATION OF THE LABOR MARKET: job creation and youth employment, employment in small and medium-sized enterprises;

NEW FORMS OF WORK: including work platforms;

QUALITY OF WORK: including fair working conditions, anticipation, preparation and management of change and restructuring processes;

DIGITALIZATION OF THE ECONOMY AND SOCIETY: (including artificial intelligence);

TRANSITION TOWARDS AN ECONOMY: climate neutral;

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT: including reskilling and upskilling;

PROFESSIONAL MOBILITY WITHIN THE EU: migration, youth employment, health and safety at work;

MODERNIZATION OF SOCIAL PROTECTION SYSTEMS: including access to social protection for atypical workers;

CONCILIATION BETWEEN WORK AND FAMILY LIFE: gender equality, fight against discrimination, active inclusion and decent work, healthier and longer working lives;

RESPONSE TO THE EMPLOYMENT: social and economic CONSEQUENCES of crisis situations

THE CALL WILL FUND ACTIVITIES SUCH AS: Conferences, seminars, round tables, studies, surveys, publications, training courses, development of training tools, networking, development and exchange of best practices.

PROJECTS CAN BE SUBMITTED INDIVIDUALLY OR IN CONSORTIUM.

IN THE FIRST CASE > SINGLE APPLICANT: it can only be an Organization of the social partners representing workers at European level established in one of the EU Member States.

IN THE SECOND CASE > THE CONSORTIUM MUST BE MADE UP OF A COORDINATOR AND AT LEAST ONE CO-BENEFICIARY:

 COORDINATOR MUST BE: An Organization of the social partners representing workers at European - National or Regional level established in one of the EU Member States. 

IF THE COORDINATOR IS NOT A REPRESENTATIVE ORGANIZATION OF WORKERS AT EUROPEAN LEVEL: the Consortium must involve at least one organization from an eligible country other than that of the coordinator and one organization of the social partners at European level.

 THE CO-BENEFICIARIES: can be established in the EU States or in the Candidate Countries.

SOCIAL PARTIES: non-profit organisations, universities and research institutes, public authorities and international organizations can participate in the projects as co-beneficiaries, affiliated entities or associated organisations.

THE PROPOSED PROJECTS: must have a duration of between 12 and 36 months.

THE EU CONTRIBUTION: can cover up to 90% of the total eligible costs of the project. The Requested Grant is expected to be between €150,000 and €700,000.

THE TOTAL BUDGET AVAILABLE FOR THE NOTICE: is equal to €6,450,000.

RESTERÀ APERTO FINO AL 9 APRILE IL BANDO NEL QUADRO DEL PROGRAMMA PER IL MERCATO UNICO – ASSE - PICCOLE E MEDIE IMPRESE (SMP COSME): volto a promuovere la rigenerazione edilizia dei quartieri in tutta Europa, affrontare la povertà energetica, promuovere l'inclusione sociale e garantire che le unità abitative di nuova costruzione e ristrutturate dei distretti sostenuti rimangano accessibili, innovative e inclusive.

IL BANDO INTENDE ISTITUIRE IL PARTENARIATO EUROPEO - AFFORDABLE HOUSING INITIATIVE (PARTENARIATO - AHI) PER SOSTENERE: le Organizzazioni attive nella ristrutturazione e nella costruzione di progetti di edilizia sociale a prezzi accessibili ed i Partenariati Industriali Locali (LIPs) in tutta Europa. Esso da un lato fungerà da pool di competenze a livello UE, fornendo competenze, buone pratiche e opportunità di trasferimento delle conoscenze a tutte le organizzazioni attive nella concettualizzazione, pianificazione, finanziamento o attuazione di un progetto di costruzione o ristrutturazione di alloggi sociali e a prezzi accessibili; dall’altro fornirà un sostegno su misura e attività di capacity building personalizzate ai membri degli (almeno) 35 LIPs selezionati, che usano un approccio integrato e lavorano per l'attuazione di un distretto faro, contribuendo così alla realizzazione dell’obiettivo della comunicazione Un’Ondata di ristrutturazioni di sostenere 100 distretti faro nel loro sviluppo.

THIS TOPIC SUPPORTS > THE PLANNING AND DELIVERY OF PROGRAMS: of higher education, such as three-year and master's degree courses leading to the achievement of a degree (at ISCED levels 6, 7 or equivalent) and develops the related permanent self-help modules learning (online, hybrid, or in-person) leading to a certification.

PROGRAMS MUST FALL INTO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES 

TYPE 1: PROGRAMS TO DEVELOP ADVANCED DIGITAL SKILLS IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING KEY DIGITAL AREAS: AI, blockchain, cloud and/or edge computing, cybersecurity, data, extended reality, internet of things, microelectronics, photonics, quantum technologies, robotics .

TYPE 2: INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAMS: aimed at the acquisition of advanced digital skills in specific sectors, in particular: agriculture, energy, finance, health, law, media and culture, manufacturing, sustainable and autonomous mobility, space

1. TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR Small and Medium Enterprises: Start-ups and Public Sector for the Cybersecurity Skills Academy

THE PROPOSALS REGARDING THIS ACTIVITY will: implement new training opportunities or expand existing successful ones, with particular attention to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (Small and Medium Enterprises) and Public Administrations in the IT security sector. 

THE PROPOSED TRAINING: should consider the needs of businesses and in particular facilitate access to Cybersecurity Talent for Small and Medium Enterprises - start-ups in all sectors.

URBACT: CALL FOR INNOVATION TRANSFER NETWORKS 2024

THE CALL: is an initiative for the transfer and adaptation of innovative projects within the scope of Innovative Urban Actions

IT IS OPEN UNTIL 20 MARCH 2024 > THE CALL: for Innovation Transfer Networks within URBACT.

THE INITIATIVE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EUROPEAN CITIES: to transfer and adapt to their local contexts an innovative project completed within the framework of urban innovative actions.

THE INNOVATION TRANSFER NETWORKS: will be trained along the Themes of the Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) Projects that were implemented from 2016 to 2023. The Subjects will have to transfer the experience and know-how of a UIA Project.

 THE INNOVATION TRANSFER NETWORKS WHICH WILL HAVE A TOTAL DURATION OF 24 MONTHS > ORGANIZED INTO 3 DISTINCT PHASES:

STAGE 1 – UNDERSTAND (6 MONTHS): the development of an in-depth and shared understanding of the UIA project, including the production of a transferability study;

STAGE 2 – ADAPT (12 MONTHS): Exchange and learning activities focused on the adaptation of the UIA project to different urban contexts, with the co-creation of a first investment plan.

STAGE 3 – PREPARING FOR Re-use (6 MONTHS): Review and improve plans with exploration of financing options for future implementation. Production of a final network report reflecting results and future prospects.

CAN PARTICIPATE: Cities and Public Bodies in Partnerships made up of 5 to 7 Entities, based in the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. Specifically, only cities that have previously received funding from the Innovative Urban Actions program (in the 2014-2020 funding period) can apply as Lead Partners for this project. Other cities are invited to participate as partners in creating dynamic and collaborative networks.

THE WINNING CITIES WILL RECEIVE:

》€550,000: 

• For networking activities,

• The transfer of the UIA project to other cities,

• Exchange and training activities,

• Capacity-building opportunities,

• A local URBACT group in each city,

• Communication and visibility at European level,

• Testing actions,

• A plan for the Lead Partner and an Investment plan for the Project Partners.
