Digital Europe: Call DIGITAL-2024-AI-06
THE NOTICE FINANCES 4 DIFFERENT TOPICS CONCERNING: Metabolic magnetic resonance imaging and linguistic technologies
SOURCE: FUNDING & TENDERS PORTAL
THE NOTICE: in the framework of the 6th round of calls for proposals for Digital Europe, it concerns Specific Objective 2, which aims to strengthen the EU's capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud to edge computing and data as a driver fundamental for the digital transformation of the public and private sector.
THE NOTICE INCLUDES 4 DISTINCT TOPICS CONNECTED TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EUROPEAN DATA STRATEGY: a Project can concern only one Topic and specific forms are prepared for each Topic).
THE TOPICS ARE THE FOLLOWING:
1. AI in support of Quantum-Enhanced metabolic MRI systems - ID: DIGITAL-2024-AI-06-IMAGING
THIS TOPIC AIMS TO DEVELOP AND EXPERIMENTALLY VALIDATE: in a hospital environment a more precise and faster tool for the study, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of cancer and/or neurological disorders (such as Alzheimer's disease and sclerosis multiple) by improving existing MRI systems with MRI techniques and quantum-enhanced metabolic AI
TYPE OF SUBSIDY: Actions to support SMEs - contribution: 50% of eligible costs (75% for SMEs)
BUDGET: €5 million
2. LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE 01 - ID: DIGITAL-2024-AI-06-LANGUAGE-01
3. LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE 02 - ID: DIGITAL-2024-AI-06-LANGUAGE-02
QTHESE TWO TOPICS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO PRESERVING CULTURAL LANGUAGE DIVERSITY IN EUROPE by: implementing the objectives of the common European data infrastructure and the MCP service in the field of language technologies. By providing the necessary data and model adaptation capabilities, the topics will have a strong impact on the diffusion of large language-based models and their applications such as generative AI. This federative effort will be established around two strands of work.
LLANGUAGE 0: will support the collection of linguistic data and the adaptation of existing linguistic core models to specific languages, sectors or sectors, so as to support the incorporation of the latest linguistic technologies by European actors.
TYPE OF GRANT: Simple grants - contribution: 50% of eligible costs
BUDGET: €20 million
LANGUAGE 02: will support the coordination of a European language technology ecosystem. This activity will bring together public and private organizations to provide infrastructure and support to developers and users of large language models, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises.
TYPE OF GRANT: Support and coordination actions: 100% of eligible costs
BUDGET: €4 million
4. MAKING AVAILABLE A HIGH PERFORMANCE OPEN SOURCE EUROPEAN FOUNDATION MODEL FOR TUNING - ID: DIGITAL-2024-AI-06-FINETUNE
THE TOPIC AIMS TO PROPOSE AND MAKE AVAILABLE: a large open-source language foundation model as an infrastructure designed to be used largely by public or private users, in particular by European SMEs, for further fine-tuning. It will support the development of an existing European foundation model and release it under an open license to maximize the impact on European industry.
Unlike existing open source foundation models, all components of this model that benefit from this action will be made available, such as appropriately anonymized training datasets, algorithms and model weights.
To take into account security concerns, the model and its components will be licensed to European players who meet the necessary conditions by a European entity (to be selected), established in the EU and not controlled by a third country. Possible entities could be the AI-on-Demand platform, a possible future EDIC or something else proposed by the consortium.
TYPE OF SUBSIDY: Actions to support SMEs - contribution: 50% of eligible costs (75% for SMEs)
BUDGET: €25 million
SUBJECTS: eligible and the requirements of the proposing consortium are specific for each Topic.
